Track Geolocations by Checking In

Track your location using Pinpoint

The Pinpoint application will open to the home screen, which displays a map of your current location.

On this screen, you have two options:

  • Start
  • Sign Out

Clicking Sign Out will sign you out of the application.

Clicking "Start" will begin tracking your geolocation and recording it in Tendrel. After clicking "Start," a timer will begin indicating how long you have been recording your location.

Pinpoint will track your location in the background, so it is safe to move away from this screen, or turn off your phone screen. Pinpoint will only use your location at a set interval (default of every 30 seconds), minimizing battery usage.

To stop recording, click "End".

Determine your tracking status

While tracking on Pinpoint, you can determine your status by looking at the top of the screen.

If you are connected to the internet, the top banner will display "Online." If you are not connected to the internet, it will display "Offline."

Further detail is displayed by two icons within the tracking card.

The right WiFi symbol indicates whether you are online. If your device is not connected to the internet, this symbol will indicate that. The left location symbol indicates whether your location is captured successfully. If your device cannot capture your location for any reason, such as the app having insufficient permissions, this symbol will indicate that.

When your device is offline or the location cannot be captured, the symbols will appear inactive, as follows:
